We are always looking for people who can help foster dachshunds that are in need of a safe haven until such time as a home can be found.
Being a foster carer is an exceptionally rewarding experience although not for everyone as it does require a commitment to the dachshund in your care. As a foster carer you will be expected to take a dachshund into your home and treat them as family members. This allows us to get a better idea of their characteristics and our ability to place them in the right home for that particular dachshund. Whilst with you, we ask that you take them for daily walks to see how they react towards other animals, people, children and how they behave when left alone. Teaching them some basic commands, if they don’t already know them, is also extremely beneficial. Each foster carer will be put in close touch with a co-ordinator who is there for you at all times to help with any questions or problems you may be experiencing. Should our dachshunds need any veterinary care, then DRA will pay all veterinary bills on your behalf.
If you’d like to be considered as a foster parent for one of our dachshunds, please complete the adoption form with as many details as possible, as this enables us to match you up with the right dachshund for your circumstances.
If you would like to help Dachshund Rescue in another area – fundraising/voluntary work/other, please email us with details of your offer: firstname.lastname@example.org
